Restaurant Café Sjiek

Sjiek on the corner of Sint Pieterstraat and Begijnenstraat in Maastricht is the café in Maastricht. It’s just chic… and that’s what they say. It doesn’t see itself as a restaurant, more like a living room, a small version of the French Grand Café. In summer it also scores points with its large outdoor terrace in the historic city park. The house’s motto: “Good and simple is honest!”. And this is what the kitchen offers. Fresh, simple dishes from Maastricht and the region are prepared here: sour meat, game, black pudding, sauerkraut dishes. But there is also “roasted cauliflower” as well as “oysters” and “smoked halibut salad”. And an additional “chic card”. Let yourself be surprised.
The wine list offers an interesting and extensive selection of French and Italian wines, a smaller selection of international wines and also wines from Maastricht – Pinot Gris, Riesling, Blanc de Blanc.
The website is wonderfully simple. But chic.

Gio’s Cucina Casalinga is in a prime location at Vrijthof in the heart of Maastricht. The sophisticated Italian wine restaurant with its cozy atmosphere is always well booked; If you want to treat yourself to “Cucina Italiana” here, you have to make a long-term reservation. Monday and Tuesday are rest days, on the other days the kitchen is open from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
There is no menu, not even a wine list. Friendly service staff explain the current offerings at the table and give excellent advice: The daily menu always consists of three courses: antipasti (classic, to choose from), primi (two dishes to choose from) and secondi (fish, beef or lamb to choose from). And all of this with pasta, pasta and more pasta… in all variations. Finally, dolci and espressos, of course. Here you are in “Bella Italia”.

“Fine dining” is the declared claim of Mes Amis. The guests are actually treated like friends of the house – because they come and come back again. And they’re fine. What’s on the table here is high culinary art, it’s actually too beautiful to eat, it’s excellently prepared, wonderfully aromatic, simply delicious. The menus – 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 courses – are enjoyable journeys.

It is awarded 1 Michelin star. Fine dining is practiced consistently but casually here.
The restaurant is open Tuesday – Saturday …
lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., evening 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. (kitchen).
At lunchtime, guests are offered a 3-course menu with alternative dishes,
in the evening you choose between 3, 4, 5 or 6 courses.
Seafood, fish, game and meat are always found on the menus.
They can be exchanged or supplemented with a number of classics –
according to the wishes of the discerning guests.

The Postwagen in the Ratskeller is Aachen’s rustic parlour. The historic walls – a brick building and an associated wooden house, both from 1659 – nestle directly on the eastern facade of the town hall. Real Öcher specialties are served on 2 floors, which the guest has to “work up” to via a rustic staircase. The rooms in the wooden house actually convey the ambience of old post cars. Down at the bar is the center of Aachen’s bar scene.
Wärm ejje Hazze, verjönne ejje Buuch. Warm in the heart, comfortable in the stomach.
True to this motto, guests are served typical, solid dishes such as:

The Ratskeller represents the region’s cuisine like no other restaurant in Aachen.
In addition to the well-kept gastronomy, the sophisticated atmosphere in the historic vaults on the ground floor of the Aachen town hall is impressive. When the temperatures are warm, guests enjoy the view of Aachen Cathedral from the terrace.
Culinary highlights on the menu are certainly the “Starter Variation for 2 people”, the “beef fillet “Rossini” the original” or the “Forest Mushroom and Pearl Barley Risotto” as main courses, and for dessert the “Printenice Tart” or the “Tart Tatin”. And the wine list is also impressive.

In the Schnabuleum, guests are confronted with the “classic” demands of crossover cuisine: regional dishes – often refined with the famous Monschauer Mustard – meet international classics. And so the menu in the house is always varied, interesting and exciting.
On the edge of Monschau’s old town, directly opposite the historic mustard mill, Michael Wolf and his team create seasonal dishes that you can’t get anywhere else – made from high-quality products, many of which come directly from local producers, very specially prepared, exciting aromatic journeys, simply delicious.
We recommend the tasting menu for a first visit, which can also be interpreted in vegetarian or vegan versions (upon reservation).
